With the imposing silhouette of St. Joseph's Oratory as a backdrop, this neighborhood is always bustling thanks to a large part of the immigrant population that chooses to settle there as a first place to live.Often described as a student neighborhood with the University of Montreal campus and its Polytechnic and HEC schools, Côte-des-Neiges is also a family neighborhood with a great social mix. These two populations share a rich cultural diversity that is reflected in the many multi-ethnic businesses and restaurants. Notre-Dame-de-Grâce (NDG), on the other hand, is a much more residential area with single-family homes, and is a rather affluent neighborhood, mostly English-speaking.
The neighbourhood is served by the Édouard-Montpetit, Université-de-Montréal and Côte-des-Neiges metro stations (blue line), as well as by the Snowdon (blue and orange lines) and Villa-Maria (orange line) stations.
